Tarifa: the wind, sea and thrilling experiences!

The southernmost point of Europe - Tarifa - a tiny town in the west of Andalusia. It is tiny in the truest sense of the word, since it consists of several streets. However, his name has spread far beyond the city itself and is well known to all windsurfers and kitesurfers. The wind here never stops (calm Tarifa is unknown!). Tarifa is considered the capital of the winds.

The city is located in the narrowest part of Gibraltar, therefore, according to Bernoulli's law, the wind, flying through this narrowing, accelerates. In addition, it is also a city of amazing beauty and unique location: only 16 km from Africa, and from the coast, one stolon is the Atlantic, and the other is the Mediterranean.

It is very easy to get to Tarifa: from Malaga airport it will take only 2 hours by car - about 150 km. At the entrance to the city, from the hill, a wonderful view of the city, located on the very coast of the sea, opens up, and Africa is also visible in the haze.

There are no expensive hotels in Tarifa: as a rule, these are 2-3 stars. More often they rent apartments or settle in campsites. Therefore, here you can so often find vans or trucks called 'homes on wheels'. People come here both in cars and buses, and that's how they live there. There are also no restaurants on the beach. And at the peak of the season, in summer, there is generally little chance of finding a place to stay: all hotels and apartments are booked in advance.

Tarifa is a big 'hangout' of lovers and fans of surfing and kiting. Basically, the city even consists of shops and factories for the production of boards, sails and other equipment. Even bars and restaurants - and those with the theme of surfing and kiting.

Well, if you come to Tarifa (and Tarifa is a city in the region of Andalusia), then you should try Andalusian cuisine and wine. She's special here. And above all, sherry. Sherry is the pride of Andalusia (it has been known since 1000 AD, it was revered even in Russia!). This is not a port, but an old noble wine with a special production technology. There are 3 varieties of sherry, but it is worth trying white sherry, and in accordance with the Spanish tradition, it should be eaten with jamon (a very thin slice of dried ham, by the way, another national pride of Spain). By the way, the famous amotillano wine is also sherry.

If, having arrived in Tarifa, you do not have your own equipment, this is not a problem: there are many rental centers on the coast. However, the best are Planet Windsurf and Club Mistral.

It is worth knowing the name of the local winds: those that blow from the ocean are called Poniente, and those that blow from the sea are called Levante.

The white sandy beach stretches for 15 km, so it is possible to ride in any place, both for beginners and professionals: the beach is ideal for any level of kite or surf skills.

There is another great advantage of Tariffa: it is very democratic. This democracy is manifested in everything: be it a hotel, food, beach or company. Friendliness and hospitality are provided to you everywhere!

In addition to windsurfing, you can find other entertainment on the tariff. For example, admire nature and replenish cultural baggage: go to Seville, Granada, Jerez, Cadiz and other cities on the Costa del Sol. You can also visit Morocco by sailing across Gibraltar by ferry. You can go mountain biking or horseback riding. For lovers of nightlife, Tarifa will also offer many alternatives.

Yes, Tarifa is a unique, unlike anything kite and surf resort with its own atmosphere. This is an original town with amazing landscapes, beaches and attractions that will be remembered not only by surfers, but also by any visiting tourist!
